A first exam here takes forty minutes. Not because we're slow — because you only get one pair.
What happens in the chair
Three measurements, no guesswork.
- Step 1 · Topography
Map the cornea
A Placido scan reads 22,000 points across the front of your eye. It tells us whether you're a good candidate for laser surgery before anyone says the word.
- Step 2 · Tonometry
Check the pressure
A painless puff (or a drop and a gentle probe) measures fluid pressure. Normal is 10–21 mmHg. Above that, we start watching for glaucoma.
- Step 3 · OCT
Scan the retina
Optical coherence tomography slices the retina into ten layers, each a few microns thick. You look at a green light for six seconds; we get a cross-section.
